Sovereign AI

Sovereign AI means running AI systems on infrastructure under a jurisdiction you can defend to a regulator, operated by an entity you can point to. It is not the same as private AI, which means your data stays inside a boundary you control, and it is not the same as data residency, which is only a question about where the servers sit. Most organisations that ask for sovereign AI actually need private AI. The two get used interchangeably, usually by whoever is selling.
